YAÇEM Vision and Goals

To provide high quality, student-centered education and lifelong learning opportunities for the communities we serve.

At YAÇEM, everyone pursue their goals in an environment that values diversity, individuality, mutual respect and free exchange of ideas.

YAÇEM Objective

YAÇEM has the following objectives:

1. Capacity Building: Via new and developing researchers and PhD students joining the research groups. This enables them to increase their research profile through direct involvement in bidding and writing publications;

2. Flexible and Rapid Response to Emerging Opportunities: The research groups quickly act to address emerging national or international needs – making them more readily able to respond to external opportunities to bid for both large and small research funds;

YAÇEM Initiatives

This YAÇEM initiative is supported by mechanisms, for example:

1. PGR Strategy: The PGR strategy is augmented to support the research groups. This includes focused PhD research, targeted recruitment numbers, specific events through conferences, bespoke training, etc;

2. Bidding Support: Financial resources can be available to the research groups to help members be more effective in submitting external funding bids;

YAÇEM Research Impact and Strategy

Research impact as the very final outcome of research projects and studies is the key: it is defined as “an effect on, change or benefit to the economy, society, culture, public policy or services, health, the environment or the quality of life beyond academia.” As implied from those definitions, research can improve not only economy but also our quality of life through impacts such as Society, Health, Environment, Policy and Culture.
